World Food Day on 16th Oct 2012 was organised by Department of Agriculture, Bagalkot, KVK Bagalkot and IAT Bagalkot chapter at DATC Bagalkot. The programme was inaugurated by Dr. Gurumurthy, Joint Director of Agriculture, Bagalkot, Dr. Chetana Patil, DDA, DATC & President IAT Bagalkot Chapter chaired the programme. Dr. R.R. Wali retired ADA and Dr. Basavaraj Yenagi, Asst. Prof of Agronomy, Agril Diploma college , Jamakhandi delivered lectures on Food security to probationary Assistant agriculture officers and Agriculture officers of Bagalkot and Raichur district undergoing Common Foundation Course Training at DATC Bagalkot from 08-10-2012 to 22-10-2012. Smt.Pramilamma Basappagoudar, ADA (FW) DATC, IATian concluded the programme by proposing the vote of thanks.
World food day was celebrated on 22-10-2012 to coincide with the 14th year of completion of IAT Chitradurga Chapter in coordination with KVK & ARS Babbur at the IAT premises. The programme was was inaugurated by Sri. K.M. Narayanaswamy, CEO, ZP Chitradurga. Dr. R. Krishnamurthy, President IAT and also JDA of Chitradurga presided over the programme. Sri. K.Gopalareddy A.R.C.S. Bangalore delivered lecture on “Agriculture Cooperatives- Key to Feeding the World”. Dr. B.R. Shankar, JDA (Retd) was honoured on the occasion; Dr.S.R. Lakshmikantha Reddy Ex-President of IAT, Chitradurga and also Dr. K.H. Seetharama Reddy were the chief guests and spoke on the occasion. Dr. G. Sreekantan, Secretary, IAT Chitradurga, Welcomed one and all where as Dr. B. Jagannath proposed the vote of thanks.
World Food Day was arranged jointly by IAT & ‘Gelati’ association of Agril dept @ Dharwad. Dr Sanjiv Kulkarni Doctor, Environmentist, Thinker gave a special lecture on Food and Health & enlighted the audience about food culture of Indian society, hazards of modern foods, white poisons of our dietry system, importante of fasting, traditional foods & their nutritional values, millets & their imp, benifits of consuming raw vegetables. President S M Gadad JDA, S B Biradar,Channappa Angadi, Mrs Shabana Sheikh, Umber Farid, L H Patil, F R Nidagundi, president of Gelati society Mallamma Hubballi & other members have participated in the program.
The World food day programme was presided by Dr. V.T. Sannveerappanavar President IAT Mandya Chapter on 17-10-2012. There were two guest speakers. Dr. C. Shankaraiah, Rtd. Dean, College of Agriculture, VC, Farm Mandya and Mr. P. Ramakrishnegowda, Dy. Director, Cooperative societies, Mandya. Around 68 participants witnessed the programme. The programme ended with vote of thanks by Mr. M.C. Shivaraju, Secretary IAT Regional Chapter.
World Food Day 2012 was organized on 18-10- 2012 at Pooratippali village of Raichur Taluk in collaboration with IAT Raichur, Krishik Samaj, Raichur, Department of Agriculture and Sri.Ramalingeswara Trusts, Pooratippali.
Sri.Somasekhar, Senior Scientists, Regional Research Station, Raichur inaugurated the programme. He explained the importance of conducting World Food Day, Food shortage at Global level and necessity of food security for the people who are suffering with malnutrition.
Dr.Satyanarayana Rao, Farm Superintendent, Regional Research Station, Raichur explained about increase in food production as well as organic farming. Dr.Bheemana, Entomologist, Regional Research Station, Raichur explained about pests, and their control in different crops as well as importance of Integrated Pest Control. Sri.S.M.Sidda Reddy, Secretary IAT and President, Krishik Samaj, Raichur explained about self sufficiency of food production after independence. Further he appealed to the farmers to achieve self sufficiency in oilseed and pulses by practicing new technologies. Further he also expressed that IAT as well as Krishik Samaj will assist farmers to make use of the facilities available in Agriculture, Horticulture, Watershed, Animal Husbandry and Forest department.
Sri.Yuvarajappa Sahukar, Ex APMC President, Siddana Gowda Nagalapur, Krishik Samaj, Executive Committee member and Sri. Shivarajappa participated in the programme. P.Mallanna welcomed the farmers. More number of youths, progressive farmers including members of Sri.Ramalingeswara Temple trusts participated in the programme.
